About Jonky Dawson

Jonky Dawson has spent much of his life following ideas that seemed interesting enough to pursue — from business and teaching to photography, writing, music, and, more recently, claymation.

His career has included working in the corporate world with Shaw Industries, part of Berkshire Hathaway, where he became interested not only in selling products but in understanding the people who actually use them. Over the years, that curiosity led to a number of entrepreneurial projects and inventions, including NurseBooking.com, Ever Open Door, product-placement music catalogues, and even a bicycle rack designed for motorbikes.

Jonky has also worked as an English teacher, photographer, magazine publisher, master of ceremonies, and President of Skål International Northern Thailand. His photography work has included photographing Miss Thailand contestants, while his publishing projects have ranged from Suuai Magazine to books exploring retirement, saving, money, and the practical lessons about life that rarely seem to make it into school.

Thailand has played a major role in his life and creativity. After visiting the country for decades and eventually making Chiang Mai home, many of his newer projects have been inspired by the people, experiences, humour, and memories he has collected along the way.

In 2026, Jonky released his first music album. Drawing on the simple “ta-ta-ti-ti-ta” rhythms he remembered from eighth-grade drum class, he began combining his own ideas with AI-assisted musical production. What started as an experiment became a collection of songs built around rhythm, memories, and life in Thailand.

His latest creative adventure is a claymation comedy world featuring Lumpy, an absurd pink elephant; Missy, an ambitious public-relations intern still figuring out how business works; and Mr. Butterhead, the perfectionist boss who somehow manages to point every opportunity in the wrong direction.
